Shiva Ras – An Anecdotal Musical Presentation on Lord Shiva by The Khayaal Project
Shiva Ras is a contemplative Hindustani classical presentation that celebrates the spirit of Lord Shiva through music, narrative, and rasa. Drawing inspiration from a devotional composition by Sant Tulsidas, the performance explores Shiva’s many dimensions—his majesty as Mahadeva, his ascetic simplicity, and his quiet compassion that embraces all.
Presented by Kalpana Sumanth Umashankar, the evening blends classical rigour with emotive storytelling, allowing the listener to journey through devotion, surrender, and stillness. The anecdotes interwoven with the music offer context and intimacy, making the experience deeply personal and resonant even for those new to Hindustani music.
