About the event
Shape of Momo is the debut feature film by Sikkimese filmmaker Tribeny Rai. Set in the Eastern Himalayas, the film follows Bishnu, a woman who returns to her ancestral village after quitting her city job, only to find herself navigating the pull of family, tradition, and the life she is quietly trying to claim for herself. At the heart of the story is a household of four women across generations, each grappling with the same world in their own way.
Written and directed by Tribeny Rai, and executive produced by Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti, and Payal Kapadia, the film releases in Indian theatres on 29 May, distributed by Spirit Media. It has been warmly received on the global festival circuit, winning two awards at Busan and the Grand Jury Prize at IFFLA.
