Vocalist Susheela Raman, a British musician celebrated for her evocative live performances rooted in the sacred Bhakti and Sufi traditions of India, joins forces with guitarist Sam Mills to present original compositions inspired by Blake’s poetry. Jeet Thayil performs selections of Blake’s work from memory, the spoken word weaving through the music, creating a charged and immersive experience.

Raman, whose debut album Salt Rain was nominated for the Mercury Prize (2001) and who received a nomination for the BBC World Music Awards (2006), is known for her bold interpretations of sound and tradition. Her rendition of Ye Meera Divanapan Hai remains an iconic reimagination of a classic. In A Golden String, she brings her signature intensity to Blake’s luminous, defiant imagination, set against visuals drawn from his extraordinary artwork.
